About Sun Sea and Selling Houses 2022

Since it first aired on our screens on Channel 4 in 2017, Sun Sea and Selling Houses has grown in popularity. The hit television show follows two British families who have taken the plunge and moved to Spain to open their own Spanish estate agents. Both companies are located on the Southern Costas of Spain and the show has inspired thousands to begin their own property search there.

We at Movehappy are based on the Costa Blanca and find that the show is a common topic of conversation with our clients. The show has enabled them to see just how much they can get for their money here as well as showing the local area and how beautiful it really is.

At Movehappy we offer a similar service to the agents seen in Sun Sea and Selling Houses. We even appeared in the hit show, A Place in the Sun Series 6: Summer Sun in 2012. After discussing our clients requirements at length we take them to view the selected properties as well as the local area and anything else they may find useful or of interest. We list new build properties in all of the popular areas seen in Sun, Sea and Selling Houses such as Torrevieja, Villamartin, Los Alcazares, La Zenia, Playa Flamenca and many many more.

The first company in Sun Sea and Selling Houses is Spanish Property Choice. The company is run by the Garner family and is based on the Costa Almeria in the coastal resort of Mojacar. Spanish Property Choice was established in 2007. 14 years later, they now have over 1000 properties on offer.

The second company followed by Sun Sea and Selling Houses is Casas Manuel. Established in 2005, Casas Manuel is run by the Rodriguez family on the Costa Blanca, just a few minutes from Movehappy. They now have three offices including a dedicated aftersales team.

It first aired on screens in the UK in March 2017 on Channel 4. Since then it has inspired thousands to take the leap and purchase their dream home in Spain.

At Movehappy we have found it to be a programme which still gets mentioned and talked about regularly during conversations with our own clients. As Spanish estate agents working in the South of Spain ourselves, it is no wonder. Not only does Sun, Sea and Selling Houses showcase the fantastic selection of properties available in Southern Spain and how much more you can get for your money but it shows off the beautiful area and everything it has to offer.

Sun Sea and Selling Houses

Who are the estate agents in Sun Sea and Selling Houses?

The first company followed by Sun Sea and Selling Houses is Spanish Property Choice run by The Garner family on the Costa Almeria. They are located in the coastal resort of Mojacar just a stone’s throw away from the Mediterranean sea and the blue flag beaches this beautiful coast has to offer. Spanish Property Choice was established in 2007 and now have over 1000 properties on their books for sale.

The second company is Casas Manuel and is run by the Rodriguez family on the Costa Blanca. Casas Manuel was established in 2005 in Benijofar before opening their second office in La Zenia in 2014. They now also have a dedicated aftersales team located in Benijofar.

The programme is narrated by actor and comedian, Jon Culshaw who rose to fame after beginning working in radio in 1988. Following his radio career, he went on to work in film, television and specifically comedy.

Each episode of Sun Sea and Selling Houses follows an individual, couple or family looking to purchase a property in Southern Spain. Throughout each series, you can expect to see people wanting to purchase a property for a variety of reasons including a permanent move, a holiday home, a retirement property or an investment. You can also expect to see different property types including villas, townhouses and apartments and all at different budgets making it an even more interesting watch. There are four seasons of Sun Sea and Selling Houses all following the same two companies mentioned above. This equates to 89 episodes and therefore hundreds of properties you as the viewer gets to look around.

At Movehappy we have found the show has attracted and encouraged our clients to begin their own property search for two main reasons. First of all people realise what they can actually get for their money in the South of Spain compared to the UK. For example, you are able to buy a brand new contemporary villa with 3 bedrooms and a private pool for as little as €159,000 (see image below) or a brand new apartment with a communal pool for as little as €100,000. Of course, seeing this reality makes us compare what we have for the same in the UK and begin dreaming of a life in the sun.

The second reason is that the show really gives a great insight into the area and what it has to offer.  As well as a fabulous variety of properties you will also get to see the different locations they visit. From busy tourist coastal destinations, traditional Spanish towns and secluded mountain locations you get to see it all. The blue skies, white sandy beaches, palm trees and world class views are sure to get you thinking. It is no wonder Sun Sea and Selling Houses in 2022 has inspired so many to start their search for a property in the sun.

The programme sees those searching for a property on the Costa Blanca, Costa Calida, Costa Almeria and Costa del Sol. This length of coast runs along the Mediterranean sea offering a lovely Mediterranean climate all year round. With long hot summers and winters with temperatures rarely getting lower than 15 degrees it is easy to see why the area is popular with Brits in particular looking to escape the cold weather back at home. As well as the weather the Costas have much more to offer. The coast is home to some of Europe’s most beautiful beaches, an abundance of traditional Spanish culture, hundreds of golf courses, stunning mountainous backdrops and so much more.
