The Spanish region of Alicante is located in the South East of Spain on the Costa Blanca. It has become an increasingly popular destination for tourists as well as for those wishing to migrate to Spain.

Enjoying a Mediterranean climate, Alicante and the Costa Blanca enjoys an astonishing 320 days of sunshine every year. Some of the very best beaches in the country can be found here, spanning as far as the eye can see. This magnificent coast has something for everyone. From larger towns with vibrant atmospheres to quaint fishing villages. Inland, you can enjoy a calmer way of life while enjoying the stunning scenery on offer.

Another factor influencing the popularity of Alicante is its many golf courses. Wherever you are in Alicante you are always only a short drive away from a championship golf course. To name a few, Villamartin, Las Ramblas, Campoamor, Vistabella, Las Colinas, Lo Romero, La Marquesa, La Finca, Bonalba and Alenda Golf Courses are all located in the province of Alicante.

When it comes to property in Alicante, in the southern area of the province the mountains are further from the shore exposing a larger expanse of flatter land on which more building can take place. Villas, apartments and townhouses are all widely available here and the affordability is another reason the area is attracting more people every year.

  • Alicante

The city of Alicante itself is located on the Costa Blanca and is a historic Mediterranean port. It is known for its palm tree flanked boulevards, shopping streets, huge plazas and its stunning marina. It is the regions capital which means there is always something going on. While Alicante attracts many tourists it is also a ‘real town’ and therefore doesn't completely close up over the winter months.

Alicante offers the perfect combination of a old and new with a modern, vibrant atmosphere full of history and culture at the same time. It could be said that Alicante is more authentic than other nearby cities such as Benidorm. Its old town, Barrio de la Santa Cruz has quaint narrow streets with bright coloured houses and is popular for its nightlife scene as well. From here,you can make your way up to medieval Castillo de Santa Bárbara, set on a hilltop with sweeping views of the Mediterranean coast - a must see for everyone.

  • Benidorm

Benidorm is located on the Costa Blanca and is now a very popular holiday destination, known for its nightlife by many. Until the 1960’s it was a very small fishing village. In contrast it now comprises rows and rows of high rise buildings. There are two beautiful long sandy beaches backed by the promenade filled with bars and restaurants and lined with palm trees.

In Benidorm you will never be short of something to do. On top of the beautiful beaches and promenades for those long strolls you can find water parks, theme parks, casinos, cabaret shows, excellent shopping and much much more.

When it comes to property for sale in Benidorm it will come as no surprise that apartments are widely available and a popular choice. They vary from studio apartments to penthouse apartments with rooftop swimming pools and views of the Mediterranean sea.   • Cabo Roig

Cabo Roig can be found 10 kilometres to the south of Torrevieja, on the southern Costa Blanca. The elegant cape of Cabo Roig stretches into the Mediterranean Sea with its distinct red clay cliffs that run down to its golden sandy beaches and intimate rocky coves.

Cabo Roig and more specifically the Aqua Marina area, has a perfect mix of excellent restaurants, everything from some of the finest Asian and modern cuisine to the more traditional Spanish and Italian culinary delights. All the amenities you could need are within walking distance without losing that authentic Spanish feel.

  • Ciudad Quesada

Ciudad Quesada is located inland approximately 8 kilometres from the Costa Blanca at Guardamar del Segura and around 8 kilometers north of Torrevieja. It boasts beautiful views of the Torrevieja salt lakes and stunning mountain ranges.

Ciudad Quesada is rather unusual as it didn’t really exist until the 1970’s when a Spanish entrepreneur, Justo Quesada Samper, decided to start his own town. Since then many property developments have been built to include villas, townhouses and apartments

The town centre of Ciudad Quesada has everything you could need with shops, bars, restaurants, a golf course and its own water park. Although it is inland, several blue flag beaches are only a 10 minute drive away, giving you the best of both worlds.

  • Guardamar del Segura

Guardamar del Segura really is a paradise on the Costa Blanca mainly due to the dunes, pine forests and beaches all set in harmony. It is located at the mouth of the river Segura and in history, took its place as the protector of the river.  Guardamar town has a population of around 11,000. The area boasts around 12 km of beautiful white sandy beaches many of which hold the flue flag badge.

Of course, water sports are big in this part of the region. Every type is catered for including windsurfing, underwater diving, sailing, and water-skiing, jet skiing and canoeing. A top-class marina also has its home at Guardamar. The marina is located at the mouth of the river and offers some 498 moorings. If you’re into sport and fitness, then there is also a large sports centre in Guardamar del Segura.

Top quality fresh prawns and the very best rice dishes are offered by the local restaurants. Of course there are many fine bars in the town offering superb tapas at very reasonable prices.

  • Orihuela

Orihuela is located inland on the Southern Costa Blanca near Torrevieja and has around 50,000 inhabitants. It is a typically Spanish city full of history and culture where Spanish people live and work giving it an authentic feel. Many expats have made their homes in Orihuela so they can live amongst the Spanish.

Orihuela is the main city in the Vega Baja area which is an important agricultural zone, surrounded by orange and lemon groves. It is quite compact and so it is easy to walk around and enjoy all this beautiful city has to offer including many churches and historic buildings, museums and all the shops, bars and restaurants you could need.

There are several blue flag beaches close to Orihuela on the Orihuela Costa so you can enjoy the best of both worlds.

  • La Zenia

La Zenia is located on the Costa Blanca South just south of the major town of Torrevieja. It is a relatively small beach resort but has much to offer. There are several bars and restaurants and a large shopping centre with everything you could need.

La Zenia boasts a stunning blue flag beach with great facilities making it brilliant for both families with children, and those who enjoy water sports.

  • Playa Flamenca

Playa Flamenca is a place to suit all tastes, whether you are a beach lover, golf fanatic, nature lover or history buff.

Playa Flamenca is a non-commercialised, quiet residential area. Having said this, the blue flag beaches, championship golf courses, aqua parks, water sports and tennis facilities are all just a stones throw away. You will find, after just a short walk, a large shopping centre, superb bars and fabulous restaurants.

The beautiful town of Torrevieja is only a short drive away. Nature lovers will benefit from the lakes of Torrevieja and La Mata where fantastic wildlife can be seen.   • Torrevieja

Torrevieja is located at the southern end of the Costa Blanca. The beaches here are beautiful and the area boasts the biggest salt flats in Europe, which are bursting with nature. These two lagoons are now nature reserves and are home to an impressive 250 species of birds alone.

Remains of the historical Roman docks are situated alongside the old watch tower of La Mata. This tower along with the other ancient watch tower, El Moro, was used as lookouts for pirates in the middle ages. Torrevieja hosted a wealth of Spanish and international restaurants serving up some truly fine cuisine. Alongside the restaurants are many vibrant bars serving up quality tapas and a great nightlife. Whether you're a food fan, history lover, sports buff or a sun worshiper, you will not be short of places to visit or things to do. Torrevieja has something for everyone.

In Villamartin, the community is varied, with some living permanently whilst others just visiting for the golf season. Villamartin Golf Course is now one of the most recognised golf courses on the costa blanca.  Of course, you don't need to be a golf fanatic to appreciate the stunning green areas and lazy way of life within this area.. Both Villamartin and nearby Los Dolses Plazas have many shops, bars and restaurants. There is something here for all tastes and the atmosphere here makes it a good choice for singles, couples and families.

La Zenia, Campoamor and Playa Flamenca are all superb beaches and all within a 10 minute drive from Villamartin.
