The popular television show A Place in the Sun was first seen on our screens 22 years ago in 2000. The show follows British families property hunting in sunny locations all over the world including the sunny South of Spain. Generally, the presenter will show the buyer three or four different properties chosen by their researchers. You will then find out whether or not they decided to purchase a property or not.

As Spanish estate agents in the South of Spain, we at Movehappy have found A Place in the Sun to be a programme which comes up in conversation with our clients on a regular basis. Having appeared on A Place in the Sun Series 6: Summer Sun in 2012 we have always followed the show ourselves.

A Place in the Sun grew in popularity in the years following its original release and several spin off shows have since been made including A Place in France, A Place in Greece, A Place in Spain and A Place in Slovakia. There have also been several sister shows to include A Place in the Sun: By The Sea, A Place in the Sun: Home or Away?, A Place in the Sun: Summer Sun, A Place in the Sun: Winter Sun and A Place in the Sun: Home or USA. The original show has recently made a comeback, returning to the original format. Of course A Place in the Sun Spain is a favourite of ours.

Who presents A Place in the Sun Spain?

A Place in the Sun has had many different presenters over the years. Some of the more well known presenters include Amanda Lamb, Jasmine Harman, Jonnie Irwin and Laura Hamilton. Many of the original presenters are still working on the show now and most of them have worked on the many, many episodes in Spain.

The original format of the show follows those looking for properties for a number of reasons. You will come across those looking to retire to the sun permanently, those looking for holiday homes or a permanent move abroad. You will also see people with different budgets meaning as a viewer of the show you get to see a variety of property types in different sunny locations all over the world.
